Personally i think it would be good to have random selection for the first half of the beta (Say with certain rules like, have to have been playing at least 24 months / have 3k hours in game etc) as then theyd get the average joes (and janes) and would get a better approximation of how the game is going- without having newbie players joining just to play while the game is free and not knowing enough general gw playmanship.

This way you'd be more likely to get adventurer / maper gamer types, historian /loremaster gamer types, Treasure hunter types, Pvp types, Role Play types, Lone rangers etc etc -it would be a slice of the community as it is now, vast and interesting :P

Or make it gameplay title based instead like guardian or vanquisher, so people dont just start AFKing overnight.

Which would get pretty much all of the farmers. But then again, that's also the best way to find all the bugs in a game is to have farmer-types play it.

Don't worry about Google, they make everything beta. They like to play. If they turn off the beta it means they have to stop playing and go work.

As far as the GW2 betaness goes, I think I remember reading that GW isn't designed for only hardcore gamers, is that right? Isn't it supposed to be for both hardcore and casual? If that's true, wouldn't they want a better... um, "demographic" I guess, than they'd get if they just used the hardcore players?

And I'm sure I remember reading that ANet develops on laptops, so probably they won't limit the GW2 beta to only people with the most super-duper gaming rigs. Which is good news for me.

They could always hire Peter Molyneux to hype it up for them.

I really want to get in on the beta, also. I played GW1 beta, you think that has any sway on things?

If you do not complain, you're a bad tester. Testers are there to "complain". priviledged or not, NDA or no NDA.

I've signed NDA's, and complained my ass off afterwards (to the dev's ofcourse).
